Description
Banana
This model is a playful yet cleverly engineered 3D-printed banana, split into two separate halves that can be easily joined together after printing. It blends a fun, eye-catching design with a simple and effective mechanical connection, making it both entertaining and satisfying to assemble.
The banana is divided lengthwise into two perfectly matching halves, following the natural curve and proportions of a real banana. Once assembled, the seam is subtle and the model reads as a single, continuous object with a smooth organic flow. The overall shape is stylized rather than hyper-realistic, giving it a clean, modern look while remaining instantly recognizable.
The small triangular protrusions on the inner faces are not decorative—they are precision-designed dowels:
Ensure easy alignment during assembly
Allow a firm press-fit connection
Make glue optional (recommended only for permanent assembly)
Demonstrate practical tolerance design for FDM printing
This makes the banana a great example of simple snap-together construction without complicated mechanisms.
Smooth, flowing curves highlight the layer lines in an organic, almost wood-grain pattern
Rounded edges throughout for a pleasant feel in the hand
Cleanly defined stem and tip details at both ends
Designed to look good straight off the printer with no post-processing required
Each half prints without supports
Flat orientation provides good bed adhesion and reliable results
Optimized for PLA, but also suitable for PETG and similar filaments
Prints well with standard settings (0.4 mm nozzle recommended)
Shown in classic banana yellow for maximum visual impact
Try dual-color prints for creative or humorous variations
Scale up or down to adjust fit, size, or novelty factor
Fun desk or shelf decoration
Conversation-starter and novelty print
Educational example of multi-part design and press-fit joints
Light-hearted gift for fellow makers
This two-part banana is easy to print, satisfying to assemble, and guaranteed to bring a smile—proof that even simple models can showcase clever design and solid 3D-printing principles.
