Description

I recently bought a Phomemo thermal printer to make labels for my homebrew cider bottles. The labels work well, but they need trimming to remove the extra border.

To solve this, I designed a simple tool that does exactly that. It prints without supports and consists of only three parts. Two versions are included: one that uses a small M3×15 screw, and one that uses a short piece of filament to connect the handle to the base.

Makes cuts up to around 10cm (4 inches)

Needed supplies

  • 9mm hobby knife blade

  • m3x15mm screw or a piece of filament

  • Plier

Assembly

  1. Break off a segment of a standard 9 mm hobby knife blade.

  2. Using pliers, attach the blade to the slider knob. Pay attention to the orientation—the blade cuts in only one direction.

  3. Press the slider knob into the handle. The top of the handle is the side without a chamfer. Take care and keep your hands clear of the blade.

  4. Attach the handle to the base using either an M3×15 screw or a piece of filament (Print the right handle for your usage).

How to Use

  1. Open the handle.

  2. Place the label on the base and align it with the cutting line.

  3. Slide the knob fully to the right.

  4. Close the handle.

  5. While pressing the handle down, slide the knob to the left to cut.

  6. Open the handle again.

For best results, you may need to hold the label firmly, while cutting.
