Description
Adapter parts to use an IKEA SAMLA box directly on a food dehidrator, like the SilverCrest one (but there are other brands for the same dehydrator). Why?
You get a 4-roll filament dryer for a cheap price!
You can have multiple boxes of filament, and just place them on the dryer for usage.
You can print directly from the box while drying.
IMPORTANT: don't skip on the cap part that sits over the vent exist! The air right on top of the vent gets really hot before dispersing. Without the cap, PLA over it may deform!
Instructions:
Print the "duct" and the duct extension, and place them on the dehydrator. The duct extension may not be needed depending on the curvature of the box bottom.
Print the vent cap holder. Remove the plastic cap from the food tray and attach it to the cap holder. Attach the cap holder to the dehydrator. Make sure that the cap is covering the vent hole when viewed from the top.
Print 4 feet (two A + two B) and attach them to the box feet holes. I suggest gluing them to the box or using dual-sided tape, so you can move the box around without worry.
Cut a hole on the box that is slightly smaller than the duct and mount it!
The ducts and cap holder should be printed in a temperature resistant material like PETG. For the feet I've used PLA.
