Description
I loved these drill holders/hangers for my cordless drills, but I was not able to find one that would work with my Sioux air drills. I made several attempts at making a universal style holder that would work with most air drills, but I found that due to the odd shapes and grip heavy weight distribution of the air drills, I wasn't able to make a universal type of hanger that would hold them with any confidence. So I made a pair of holders that are tailored to each of the drills that I have.
The new style hanger fits my relatively new FDR4000 drill, and the old style fits my 1456HP, which was already ancient when I bought it off eBay some 25 years ago. Sioux made these styles of drills in many different RPMs, so these two holders should cover a lot of drills. They hold the drills on the chuck and the machined rings directly behind the chuck. I had to leave them slightly loose at the main body ring, in order to allow for the slight protrusion of the grease fittings, but they seem to hold the drills securely enough.
For attachment hardware, I used #8 sheet metal screws into plywood. There is also a recess where you can slide a 6x3mm round magnet in from the side, to help retain the chuck key, if desired.
I printed these out of Polymaker ABS on my Voron 2.4 and Voron Trident, using 0.6mm nozzles, at 0.3mm layer height. 2 perimeters and 20% infill seems to be enough with this material and nozzle size, but if you go down to a 0.4mm nozzle, I would recommend increasing the number of perimeters to at least 3.
