Description

Description:

The Flexi-Mount Magnetic Organizer is a versatile and customizable solution for securely attaching small to medium items to any flat, vertical surface. This model includes a parametric design that allows you to adjust the number of slots in the mounting plate, making it tailored to your needs.

Included with your purchase are .step files featuring 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 slots, with options for holes for #6 countersink screws or a smooth finish for easy adhesion with command strips or other adhesives.

Stock Adapters:

  • Flat-back adapter

  • Google TV streamer remote

  • Samsung soundbar remote

  • Amazon Fire TV remote

  • Sanjoin Walkie Talkie Clip

Each adapter uses 2 magnets, corresponding to 2 magnets on the mounting plate. While these adapters are designed for specific remotes, some modification may be necessary for optimal fit, and a parametric model is provided for customization.

Parametric Models:

Also included are parametric models for the mounting plate and adapters so you can make modifications as you see fit for different numbers of slots or different holes, and items to mount. Note: These were all modeled in FreeCAD.

Model Modifications:
  • There is a file for the 1x Plate with and without holes to modify since it is different from the 2x plus plates.

  • For multi-slot plates, modify the included models with "multi" in their names.

    • To increase the number of slots, edit the "Part Base" sketch and add 60mm*{number of additional slots} to the middle dimension.

    • Then edit the "Slot Pattern" feature to suit the number of slots you want.

    • Steps are same with or without screw holes.

  • For the adapters, 1 for the flat adapter and another for remotes is included.

Bill of Materials (BOM):

Magnets:

  • 2 x 6mm x 3mm magnets per adapter/mounting plate slot. (Often measuring closer to 6mm x 2.7mm). [Link to magnets used]

Screws:

  • #6 countersink screws (if using hole mounting option).

    • Note: I have yet to test the print with these since I did not have any on hand. Let me know if there are any issues and I will update the print as needed. Plans are to test in the near future.

Adhesives:

  • 3M VHB foam adhesive (for attaching adapters to items).

  • Command strips (if using the mounting plate without screws).

  • Any other strong adhesive of you liking.

  • Super glue to secure magnets if desired, but not necessary.

Printing Material:

  • PLA for indoor use.

  • PET-G or another UV resistant filament if this will be used outdoors.

Printing and Assembly Instructions:

  • If not using the .3mf file, my print settings used are .16mm layers with a .4mm nozzle, 2 walls, and 15% infill. A layer height of .16mm or smaller is recommended to ensure the curved-back adapters maintain optimal contact with foam adhesive.

  • After printing, press magnets into place. Ensure you properly align the poles of the magnets for the mounting plate and adapters.

    • Tip: Press magnets into the adapter first. Then stick 2 magnets to the adapter and use it to press those into the mounting plate.

    • For easier insertion, warm the prints slightly.

  • If using screws to mount the plate, drill pilot holes into your surface and secure the plate with #6 countersink screws and drywall anchors if necessary.

  • If using adhesives, apply 3M VHB foam adhesive or command strips to attach the mounting plate to the desired flat surface.

  • If using multiple slots to mount one item, first install the magnets, place the adapters into the desired slots, and then adhere to the item to maintain perfect alignment.

With this design, you can organize your space effectively while keeping everything easily accessible!
