Description
After trying many different filament clips with none of them working quite perfectly on different spools, I decided to make my own. I wanted my filament clip to work across a wide variety of spools while holding the filament very firmly -- ideally while not taking too much time or material to print.
This clip features a wavy pattern to increase it's strength and give it more purchase on different spool styles. It also gently sweeps along a 200mm diameter to help it better contour to the average spool, but don't worry, it still works great on smaller sample spools.
You can print these clips quickly and easily with any settings but to really optimize your print time, set your wall generator to "Classic" and set your line width to 0.5mm -- I was able to print 15 of them in an just under an hour with these settings. I recommend printing these in PETG for its flexibility and strength.
Using these clips couldn't be easier, just slide the clip onto the spool and then secure the filament to it. The first slot for the filament holds it firmly but press it past the second ridge and with a satisfying 'click,' you'll know that the filament is locked in.
