Halo LED strip mounting rails for QIDI Q2 Riser

4/27/26: Added straight sections scaled for 10mm LED strip per user request

These are simple glue-on rails for the popular  fantastic QIDI Q2 riser found here (https://www.printables.com/model/1398127-qidi-q2-riser ) I modeled to fit 8mm wide COB LED strips (a string of which I had leftover from my QIDI Q1Pro halo lighting system, so mine were 24V).

They are glued on such that the led strips are held out and slanted down towards the build plate (bottom surface of print should face toward ceiling when mounted) They are scaled to allow for these LED strip joints which allow seamless connections without gaps :https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CP34167Y?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_2&th=1 ) and then to fit two longer side rails on each side and two shorter rails front and back. Before I found the seamless joints, I experimented with modeling a continuous banked curve to allow wrinkle-free (almost) conformation of the LED strip around the corners, but in the end the joints were easier to use. Since it was so much work though, at least for me, I figured I share them here anyway. :)

Simply lay out the corner joints and rails within the assembled riser, mark and cut the LED strip to fit each side (these corners do not require the strips be cut on the exposed copper contact pads so you can be very precise) and make a notch in your riser to allow the power cord pigtail to exit the back (I manually made a notch). I run these off a separate "wall wart" 24V power supply as I didn't want to tap into the machine's own power. I attached the rails with CA glue; the joint are not affixed. The LED strips can be attached with their own adhesive back although I have not found it to be very strong and the strips may start to peel away, so you may need additional adhesive; I may just use hot glue.

The difference is huge and I hadn't realized how relatively poor the lighting was in the Q2 until I added these. Printed in PETG as I don't do much heated-chamber printing where it would be at risk.
