We were really inspired by the apple ii emulator and wanted to design a retro inspired enclosure that would house the Adafruit fruit jam.
With big chamfered edges and steep angles, we wanted this to be instantly recognizable and synonymous with the original apple IIe.
It’s essentially a miniaturized 3D printed case that features a built-in mechanical keyboard.Â
No Apple II was complete without the disk drive so we wanted to make a little case for an SD card adapter where you can load the emulator and additional files.Â
It’s really easy to get emulators running on the Adafruit Fruit Jam because it has everything you need to make your own retro inspired mini computer.
Having easy access to the fruit jam was essential to the project so we made the top cover easy to pop off giving you instant access to the dev board.
The keyboard is running the QMK firmware so it was easy for us to create a custom keymap for a second layer, essential when you wanna run BASIC in the ProDOS emulator.
With the Total Replay bundle loaded on the SD card, you get a collection of hundreds of Apple II games.
