Accumulator Battery Jar

Hey hey, wonderful people!

As is probably obvious, I really do like multicoloured models formed from assemblies and things like simple filament swaps!

But first, what are these? As the pictures probably give away, they're containers for holding AA and AAA batteries! Perhaps one day those battery formats will be a thing of the past and we will just live in a world of tiny rechargeable cells, but we are not there yet. But, we can at least store our batteries in style.

The most obvious thing with this design is that the battery caddy part screws into the jar body itself, and so it can of course be printed in stylish, loud colours. Furthermore, the caddy inserts are designed so that the top of the hexagonal grid is tiered in 0.6mm increments, intended for filament swaps at the end of the print to add some snazzy detail.

As for the outer jars and lids, I did originally plan for filament swapping effects there, too (okay, mainly on the lid, which of course prints flat), but I ended up deciding the more toned-down exterior detail looked cooler instead :)

Print Description

This print is an assembly of individual parts, so take care that those parts are nice and neat so as to thread together neatly!

Print Dimensions

The main jar body occupies 113mm x 113mm on the print bed and is 47mm tall.

Supports Needed?

Not at all!  Designed for straightforward printing!

Scalability

While all this will scale just fine, it likely won't fit AA and AAA batteries anymore!

Print Orientation

The jar body and insert print right-way-up, while the lid prints upside-down.

Further Thoughts

Bizarrely, despite AA and AAA being very standardised sizes, I actually had some batteries that didn't fit! ...and then I realised they were wrapped individually in plastic :P
