HotSpring spa cover clip

It is pretty common for the cover clips to break, and when they do so,  the straps had to be cut to fit the original replacement clips offered by my dealer.

Instead of cutting the straps, I decided to make my own replacement, which can be fitted without cutting the straps, because there is a groove/slot in the top which the strap can be inserted through.

I have done some experiments by printing the model at different settings and in different materials, to figure out how strong the clips needs to be.

• PETG, 3 perimeters, 100% infill - Clip is approximately as strong as the original, the clip is a little more flexible.

• PC Blend, 3 perimeters, 100% infill - Clip is stronger than the original, flexibility and function is very identical to the original clip.

I did not have ASA when I did these clips, else I would also have tried with ASA.

Support is needed, since the clips needs to be printed "flat", my .3MF is attached with the settings I used. The supports can be a bit annoying to get out of the slots where the strap goes through, I found it easiest to cut it out with a Stanley knife (watch your fingers) and pull it out with needle-nose pliers, but be careful not to pull out the part holding the strap.

To mount the clip is pretty straight forward:

Cut the broken/old clip off with pliers etc.

Insert the strap through the groove/slot, the strap needs to be pushed quite a lot and "compressed" to get it in, this is intended for the strap to stay in there.
