Description
I've found that Zippo cases make excellent bit holders for EDC. This model fits six double sided Leatherman bits in the Zippo Slim case. You can also find Zippo Slim lighters easily on eBay. You'll also need 5mm x 1mm round magnets and superglue.
I've included the Fusion 360 file with parameters if you need to adjust the model. I have purposely designed it for a tight fit in a zippo case because the friction keeps the lid closed.
The one .stl is straight from Fusion and the other is a split model which I've found to be the best way to print this part. PLA is preferred to allow the superglue to stick.
After printing the split model, the best way to assemble it is to temporarily install the magnets (no glue!) in each side. Make sure the magnets on either side are attracting each other to pull the pieces together. Then you can place the Leatherman bits over the magnets and use painters tape to keep them in place. Apply a couple dots of super glue to the center of the two models and put the two sides together allowing the magnetic force to align them and stick together. Make sure they're tight together and well aligned so there is no visible seam.
Next you can remove the magnets from one side and reinstall with a dab of superglue in each hole. Keep the magnets in the reverse side so they can help pull the newly glued ones into place. After they're dry on one side, repeat the process on the other side.
The last thing you need to do is to bend in the tab on the lid of the Zippo case (the piece that helps give Zippos the signature flick). When this is pressed flat to the top, it will allow the lid to close with the model inside.
