Description
This is a hybrid dual-material bumper case for the iPhone 17 Pro Max, inspired by Apple’s original bumper case and redesigned for modern camera bumps, MagSafe, and multi-material 3D printing.
The case is designed specifically for IDEX printers using two materials: a rigid outer frame for structure and protection, and a soft TPU overlay for the buttons. The rigid frame provides impact protection around the perimeter while keeping the profile slim, and the TPU button layer dramatically improves button accessibility compared to fully rigid cases.
If you do not have an IDEX, you can still print this, but just remove the models covering the button holes.
The back of the case is fully leveled to eliminate camera wobble when the phone is placed on a table which is an annoyance with most modern iPhone cases. Â
A large rear opening provides direct access to MagSafe for maximum compatibility with chargers, stands, and accessories. The design is intentionally minimal and functional, keeping the aluminum frame protected without turning the phone into a brick. This is a daily-use bumper case, not a rugged drop case, but it will keep your phone from getting scuffed and dinged in normal use.
The model is optimized for dual-nozzle IDEX printing:
Rigid frame: PLA, PETG, or similar
Buttons: TPU (85A recommended)
I printed mine using Bambu Matte PLA (dark blue) for the frame and Bambu TPU 85A (light cyan) for the buttons. A fuzzy skin on the PLA gives the frame a subtle texture that hides layer lines and gives it a clean, intentional finish.
TPU hardness around 85A is recommended for best button feel.
