Description
I wanted an alternative to the OEM Starlink Mini mounting option. The model easily snaps firmly in place, and is just as easily removed with with some upward pressure on the raised bale at the rear.
I used a 40mm x 60mm pattern of M4 inserts for attachment of alternative mount options. The first one I printed was for use on a tripod with a 1/4-20 screw.
This model was built based on the .STEP model of the Starlink Mini that I believe originated at Starlink: https://api.starlink.com/public-files/starlink_mini_product_3d_models.zip
Print vertically (native orientation) with supports from the build plate. I used auto tree supports. I printed in ASA. Pictures are from an early test fit.
I included an STL for a tripod adapter and one for a 3/4-5 threaded pole (same as US painter pole thread). The tripod adapter mount hole is sized for use of a 1/4-20 thermal insert. The painter pole adapter has not been tested.
EDIT 3/30/2026: After finally getting in a proper pole, I found the original painter pole adapter did not fit. I have corrected the model and the painter pole adapter in the file list will now indeed screw onto an ACME 3/4-5 threaded painter pole fitting. The internal threads were cut using a 3/4-5 model from McMaster Carr modified to create greater tolerance. Pics added of the new version mounted on a such a pole.
A reinforced version of the insert has also been added. See: Starlink_Mini_mount_insert-II-v1-mount.STL
Fusion 360 source and STEP files are provided in addition to .STL files for both the insert and adapters. Please note that the source has been updated for the painter pole adapter in the adapters file.
