Update 07.02.2026: "Tight" & "Relaxed" Versions
I have updated the naming convention and added a new variant based on assembly testing:
Tight (Original): High-frequency wave for a firm, secure grip on wires.
Relaxed (New): Wide-pitch design for easier installation and more space for cable harnesses.
Choose Tight for maximum hold or Relaxed for a smoother installation in long extrusion runs.
I designed this flexible retainer to keep wires neatly organized inside 2020 aluminum extrusions. Unlike rigid clips that can snap or are difficult to insert, this wave pattern relies on the flexibility of ABS/ASA to create a secure friction fit.
The clip holds cables firmly in the channel but remains removable when you need to adjust wiring. While I use this on my Voron, it works with any frame using standard 2020 extrusions (6mm slot).
Update 23.01.2026: Added a modular version (linkable). Useful if you need longer segments or custom lengths.
Installation: You don't need to slide this in from the end of the profile.
Start from one end and insert it into the slot over your wires
Use a gentle side-to-side wiggling motion to guide the waves progressively into the channel
The sinusoidal pattern creates tension that locks the strip in place
Two versions included:
2.8mm width (7 perimeters) - Recommended. Easier to install while providing good grip
3.2mm width (8 perimeters) - Tighter fit for maximum hold
Print Settings:
Material: ABS or ASA (PLA is too brittle and will snap during installation)
Nozzle: 0.4mm
Perimeters only, no infill:
2.8mm version = 7 perimeters
3.2mm version = 8 perimeters
Layer height: 0.2mm
Supports: None
The all-perimeter construction provides the flexibility needed for installation and the strength to retain cables securely.
