Description
These heart ornaments explore the contrast between soft, rounded forms and clean, minimalist geometry. Selected variants are designed to be transformed through a puffing process, while thinner versions remain flat by intention, allowing you to combine both for a visually balanced and contemporary look.
Puffing is a simple post-processing method where the stars are briefly immersed in boiling water. During this process, the surface softens and gently expands due to the heated air inside, creating a rounded, natural, almost hand-shaped appearance. This gives each ornament its own character and a pleasantly organic feel.
Puffing is done in boiling water for a period that is not precisely defined and depends on the properties of the filament and the wall thickness of the print. For hearts, it takes approximately 15–30 seconds. If the time is too long, unwanted secondary deformation may occur.
Puffed hearts: Designed for puffing to create a soft, balloon-like form
Flat hearts: Non-puffing, intentionally flat, serving as a minimalist counterpoint
For best results, use PLA or Silk PLA, as these materials soften evenly during puffing and allow controlled expansion while preserving the overall shape.
The material used in the photos is PM Silk Dark Pink.
