Description
This is a slightly modified from OEM tether that uses the original vehicle components. Other models I have found were slightly mis-sized, or just a little too short for the recessed cap on my VW T5 transporter. Note for some models, the screw hole is too large for the standard plastic pin fitting - if you have a pin style please contact me and I will make a version to suit.
I've created a lead-in angle on each end to better guide the tether into place and it's a few centimetres longer than the standard tether on a number of models.
The holes in the filler cap are miraculously sized to fit standard filament, so I have "rivetted" the tether in place using filament and no other adhesive, but I can see that a tiny drop of superglue might be reassuring, if you apply a little lubricant on the factory part first. An alternative would be to apply a soldering iron to each side to create "rivets" but I haven't felt the need to do that as the forces on the cap keep everything nicely in place.
I've printed in 98A TPU with 0.15 Structural settings in Prusa Slicer, modified with 3 perimeters and "concentric" top and bottom layers to give a nicer finish.
The holes are sized at 2.0mm, but the TPU tolerance closes them up nicely to create a firm grip on the filament rivets.
