Description
Saw a lot of bin covers that were overly complex, and I just wanted something quick and easy until the official cover is ready for release. These are just some simple mounts to keep the bin (Sterilite 58 quart from Walmart) securely sitting atop the printer. They take about 20 minutes to print. Print two of each (front and rear) plugs.
- Remove the factory silicone plugs and simply replace them with these.
- You can trim the bin lid to better fill in the gap at the rear of the printer, if you want. I used a couple little pieces of double-sided tape to hold it in place.
- Though this will help hold in heat, it is primarily intended to mitigate dust (and feline) intrusion. For better thermal loss mitigation, you might want to add a bit of weatherstripping and better seal any gaps between the lid and the printer, at the back.
I have included the Fusion360 file so you can modify these simple plugs to meet your needs (for example, if you need to make them taller to allow for weatherstrip), if desired.
