Description
This was remixed for entry into the Valentine's Classics 2026 contest. When we drop our son off at school, we flash the American Sign Language sign for "I Love You" before we leave. Our son envisioned the sign with a heart, with a couple kissing cut out of it, resting in between the fingers. We discovered the I Love You ASL with stand model by bumpysig and found it to be the perfect template for his vision. My son drafted the project in Tinkercad and, to make it more practical, I suggested he turn the stand into a drawer and to add a heart shaped base for more stability. The drawer is open and can be used for jewelry or other small items. There is no lock or other device to secure the drawer inside the base.
We printed this using CC3D Metallic Red 111154 PLA on a Flashforge Adventurer 5M. It used a total of 215.02 g of filament (including supports) and took approximately 11 total hours to print. Supports were easy to remove with some difficult parts under the fingernails and inside the heart (much like real life, huh?). The drawer had one small support under the heart shaped knob that came off when we removed the drawer from the build plate. I suggest some type of support inside the stand to prevent stringing. We used 15% infill in a Gyroid pattern and, overall, it feels solid.
