Description

The Lifegard Aquatics 5 Gallon Bookshelf Aquarium (15.74"×7.87"×9.84") is great for nano-scaping. This 3D-printable lid is designed to solve the common frustrations of the typical glass lid by addressing cable management and gas exchange.

Key Features:

  • Hardware-Ready: Includes a dedicated cutout for Hang-on-Back (HOB) filters, Lily pipes, and various cables, keeping your rim look clean.

  • Universal Light Mount: The center cutout is designed to accommodate almost any gooseneck-style light. It has been tested and perfectly fits the Fluval Nano Plant 4.0.

  • Enhanced Ventilation: The mesh-style print allows for superior oxygen exchange and heat dissipation, which is vital for maintaining stable parameters in a 5-gallon system.

Print Instructions:

To achieve the open-mesh "hex" look, you have to configure the model in your slicer by removing the top and bottom layers.

  • Sizing: Use the "PreCut" file for medium format printers (ie MK4(S), CoreOne, Etc)

  • Shell Settings: Set Top and Bottom layers to 0.

  • Perimeters: Use 3–4 perimeters to ensure the frame remains rigid.

  • Infill: Set to 15%. I highly recommend Honeycomb for its structural integrity and aesthetic.

  • Reinforcement: Use Infill Modifiers around the handle attachment points to increase density for added durability.

  • Filament Choice: PETG or ASA is recommended. These materials handle the humidity and the heat from lights like the Fluval Nano much better than PLA.

Note: Be sure to print two lid handles. They can be secured with almost any glue.

Required Hardware

  • 5mm Lid Clips: This lid is designed to rest on standard 5mm glass lid clips.

  • Note: These typically come with the Lifegard aquarium, but can be purchased separately on Amazon if needed.

Step File has been added for convenience.
