Description
This is a pencil clip and protector for a notebook with (elastic) band closure. There is a .stl-file included with dimensions that fit for most of my notebooks and pencils. (band: 6 x 1 mm and pencil: 7,3 mm diameter)
If the dimensions from above don’t fit for you the settings for the following points can be adjusted:
If you want only the cap or the top clip you can unselect the other and only print one of them.
For thous who don’t want to pull out the pencil there is a second version for the second clip. Please be aware that with the 'no pull' version the pencil might get loose easier in your bag.
The design was created with a pencil in mind, however there should be no problem to use it for other (round) things like a paintbrush, pen, hobby knife,... you get the idea.
To change the dimensions you need to download the .scad file and open it with OpenSCAD. Everything can be changed in the ‘Customizer’ window. No need to understand or edit the code. First set the width and height of the elastic band and then set the diameter of the pencil and height of the tip. Before exporting you can decide which parts - top and/or clip - you want to print. Export the file for printing.

Thread the clip through the elastic band closure of the notebook and insert the pen. A tight fit on the elastic band requires some patience, however inserting and removing the pencil is much easier in the long term.
How I Designed This ===================
For years I had a pencil clips for my notebooks made out of fabric. They worked great except for two little flaws in the design. First there was no way to remove and use them on the next notebook and second the tip of the pencil broke after some time carrying the notebook with me in my backpack. So I looked around if there was something that could fix both problems. Although there are some solutions for the first problem everybody seems to use a ballpoint pen and the beauty of a pencil sketch was not taken into account.
My first idea was to use the design of a cap for a ballpoint pen and create a connection to the elastic band. This works fine, however I was afraid that the cap could get loos and pens with a slightly different diameter don’t fit.

Moving the slot from the side to the top solves both problems. After some days of testing everything still works fine.
Since there seems to be no standard (or too may) for the diameter of pencils and also the elastic bands have different widths and heights on notebooks from different manufacturers these values are customizable for the object. The top and the second clip can be generated together or as separate peaces. Finally if the tip of the pencil has a different height you can also modify this value.
