Description
Inspired by fluttering dragonfly birthday cards, these hearts are a fun way to add a little extra surprise to your valentine's day card. Word of caution, if your partner startles easily give them a little warning. I don't want to be the cause of any break ups!
02/10 - Version 2 is now available. This version is Print-In-Place so no glue required! V2 can also work with just a single small elastic. I'll add more pictures in the coming days, I just wanted to get the model uploaded before Valentine's Day.
Here are the setting I used on my Prusa Mini+.
Material: PLA
Temp: First layer 215, other layers 210
Layer height: 0.1mm (with Input Shaping)
First layer height: 0.1mm
Perimeters: 1
Perimeter Generation: Arachne
Elephant Foot Compensation: 0.1mm
Fill density: 100%
Since the tollerances are tight for the print in place to work properly, some fine tuning may be required.
Version 1 Instructions:
Assembly required, you will need:
- Your favourite glue for bonding 3D prints (I used CA glue). I found a toothpick was a great applicator.
- Small rubber bands (2 small hair elastics from the dollar store work great!)
For printing, I used a Prusa Mini+ (Input Shaper profile) on the 0.10mm Fast Detail print setting with a single perimeter, and no supports.
Assembly:
You will have 4 printed parts & 2 small elastics
Glue the 2 upper halves and 2 lower halves together *Note* It's easiest to glue them individually, just don't glue the neck of the lower half yet (see next step)
Since the neck of the lower half hasn't been glued together, you can split it and insert the upper half. After inserting the top, put a small dot of glue on each site of the neck (careful not to get any glue where the top rotates). This is where a toothpick comes in handy as an applicator
Make sure the top spins freely once the glue dries. If it does, you're ready to move onto the rubber bands
First, thread both rubber bands through the bottom hole on the lower half. Next bring one set of ends around the back and through the center cut out. Finally pass the ends from the bottom hole, through the ends in the center cut out.
Stretch the bands onto the top hook
Now wind it up and let it go!
