Description
"A new hand touches the beacon. Listen. Hear me and obey. A foul darkness has seeped into my temple. A darkness that you will destroy. Return my beacon to Mount Kilkreath. And I will make you the instrument of my cleansing light."
I wanted to print a statue of Meridia in order to grow my TES statue collection, but I couldn't find any that I really liked.Â
artash44Â had posted a model that I assume is extracted from Skyrim. It looks identical to the statue at her shrine in the game. It is somewhat low resolution, though it was the best I could find and looks good enough when printed if you are not looking too closely.
But the model does not have a base, probably because it was placed directly onto other structures in the game. At the same time I thought it would be cool if I could incorporate the Beacon of Meridia into the display, so I decided to combine the statue with a base large enough to accomplish that.
I found this great round stone brick base posted by outcastrc, modified it slightly to make the bottom smooth and flat, and then combined both it and the statue into a single file.
The beacon is printed from this:Â https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6468240Â . I printed mine at 200%, but I might print another slightly larger(maybe 250%). I cannot really tell how large it is supposed to be in the game, but I always assumed it to fit in the palm of your hand.
13.5h print on Core One with Balanced settings:
Layer height: 0.12
Top layers: 7
Avoid crossing perimeters: ON.
Infill density: 8%
Infill pattern: Adaptive cubic.
Brim: ON.
Support: Organic
Overhang threshold 35%
Support on build plate only.
I manually blocked support on the clothing fold above the thigh, and painted on seams on the back of the head and rear corners of the "wings"(See images).
I cannot guarantee how well the fingers print with FDM if you scale the statue down a lot. They are very thin and fragile even at the default size.
I printed mine in Prusament Galaxy Black. It looks a lot more like black/charcoal grey stone in RL than it does in the images.
