Description

If you aren't using a Quest with your X-Arcade Arcade2TV-XR or you added the haptics and want a nice flat shelf, print a couple of these and get a nice flat surface.

Note that putting it low like I show in my photo will interfere with the location syncing with the Quest. It still works, but you'll need to sit or stoop while syncing the location so the controllers are fully visible. If you put the shelf higher, it's less of a problem, but in either case the shelf will show up in XR. You'll need to take the shelf off for mixed reality.

Instructions: (It's not my fault if you screw this up)

  • Print two blanks with supports. I removed the L/R key that was on the original so a blank will work on either side.

  • You'll need a Philips screwdriver and if you have the stand, you'll need a 4mm or 5/32" hex driver. (There is hex driver hiding under the Arcade2TV.)

  • Unplug everything from the Arcade2TV.

  • Take off the top cover. I was able to do this carefully without removing the controller from the stand. There are three screws in the back and one on each side. The side screws are under the rail guides if you have the stand. You'll need to remove two hex screws from each rail guide and remove the guides to get to the screws. Keep track of the springs that are also under the guides.

  • Carefully arrange the top so you can get to it's underside without putting stress on any of the wires.

  • Remove the two Quest controller cradle frames. Each one has two screws on one side with two washers. The other side just levers into place without screws. If you just flip the top over and rest it against the stand, like I did, be careful not to drop the screws into the Arcade2TV.

  • Replace with the blanks and reattach with the two screws and washers for each. Do not tighten too tighly or you will break off the screw boss off between the layers.

  • Reattach the top and the side rail guides, if applicable. Three screws in back, one on each side, and two hex screws and two springs for each rail guide.

P.S. BTW, kudos to X-Arcade for a modular design that made this an easy project.
