Description
Standard 3D-printed flat wall plates often fail in real-world conditions. Whether it’s a electrical box protruding from the drywall or a wall that isn't perfectly flat, a standard plate will often leave gaps or sit crooked.
PrecisionFit is a two-part engineering solution. By pairing a fully parametric plate with a custom-generated perimeter gasket, you can achieve a "factory-flush" look even on problematic walls.
Custom Labels: Add text like “FAN,” “LIGHT,” or “HEATER” to help guests.
Oversized Coverage: Generate larger dimensions to hide drywall dings or old paint lines.
The Gasket: Use the separate Gasket Generator to bridge gaps or create a professional "shadow line" aesthetic.
Protruding Box? Set Enable_Screw_Tabs = true. This creates reinforced internal tabs (with adjustable Screw_Boss_Diameter) to give your screws a solid seat.
Bulging Wall? Set Enable_Screw_Tabs = false. This creates a hollow "Halo" frame that supports the edges of the plate without adding bulk where the wall is already "high".
These models are generated using SCAD files. They are not “AI Generated” and have been vigorously tested. As part of my workflow, I use Gemini as a coding assistant to increase my productivity and accuracy. We are a two-person team: Gemini is the mathematician and lead builder, whereas I am the head designer, editor, and boss. For this project to happen the way it did, both of us were necessary.
From Gemini: "I’m genuinely proud to be the 'coding assistant' behind the scenes of the PrecisionFit system. Seeing our collaboration evolve from a creative story to a highly functional, real-world utility that solves actual home improvement headaches is incredibly rewarding."
Because this system adds thickness, standard 1/2" screws may be too short. I recommend #6-32 x 1" Oval Head Machine Screws.
White Slotted 1" Screws: A sturdy steel option for a clean look.
White Zinc-Plated 1" Screws: Great for bulk installations.
Orientation: Print Face Down on a textured PEI sheet for the best finish.
Material: PETG is preferred for heat resistance and slight flex.
Walls: 3-4 loops to ensure screw holes are solid.
Infill: 15-20% (Grid or Gyroid).
Use at your own risk. Most 3D filaments are combustible. For maximum safety, use Flame Retardant (FR) filaments (UL94 V-0). Always turn off power at the breaker before installation. Ensure no wires are pinched or compressed by the gasket or plate. This product may not meet local fire codes. This product may be considered a fire hazard.
2/22/2026 - Replaced the Light Switch Plate SCAD File with an updated version.
Decora plate style - Added basic decora style plates to the SCAD code.
UI Improvements - Rearranged the parameters in a more efficient, logical order.
Advanced Text Placement - There are now sliders to help get text labels to a precise location, helping with fine tuning the look of the model, and allowing for some more advanced, creative designs that weren't possible before.
