Description
The standard HyperStar cable routers for the Edge HD 8" telescope work well from preventing diffraction spikes; however, they mount to the outside rim. Therefore, they can't be used with the Celestron rigid dew shield since it clips tightly to the outside rim of the telescope.
I originally used a flexible dew shield however with the HyperStar the flats were sensitive to misalignment so I had to switch to the rigid version (which worked much better). Additionally, it seems for my case routing the cables higher resulted in better flats as the shadows cast by the higher cables were more diffuse.
This part is mounted to the top of the camera so the diameter of the camera body is important. This part was made for a 90mm diameter camera body (ZWO ASI2600MC/MM Duo). If your camera has different diameter I have included the Fusion file as well as the STEP file so it can be easily modified.
Use small zip ties to secure cables using the slots along the cable router.
