Description
A cute little trophy to reward kids who competed in the school spelling bee. We borrowed the bee ornament from WHerzog and it is available on printables.com.
The model is made with OpenSCAD so it can be modified and customized to your liking.
The program uses the excellent BOSL2 library which makes this task much easier. Please download and install it according to the directions.
The "cryptic runes" inscription on the base add a little hint of mystery and give the kids a puzzle to figure out. The glyphs are actually a real constructed language called Toki Pona and literally read "person of the good spelling bee". We chatted with one of the Duck.ai large language models to get the translation right.
The Toki Pona language is written using English letters but there are also pictorial representations of it. To get the glyphs seen here you need to download and install a font called linja pona which will translate the words into runes. There are other fonts available that do the same thing.
Print the medallion and the base separately so you can add a color change in to make the lettering stand out. You can put additional color changes inside the bee cavities, but we found it to be easier to cut vinyl stickers for additional color.
