Description
The Pepper in a Can Challenge is a classic test of indoor gardening - growing a productive pepper plant in the limited root space of a soda or beer can. It’s perfect for winter growing, but cans are notoriously unstable, prone to leaking, and (let’s face it) usually have distracting graphics.
I designed this sleeve to turn a recycled can into a professional-looking desktop planter. My test Habanero is currently thriving in a 16oz can, and these sleeves have kept the setup clean and tip-proof even as the plant becomes top-heavy with fruit.
Why use this sleeve?
Stealth Aesthetics: Covers bright logos for a uniform, minimalist look.
Anti-Tip Base: The integrated tray widens the footprint, preventing your plant from falling over when the soil dries out.
Smart Drainage: Designed to work with side-punched drainage holes to manage runoff without a mess.
This collection includes dedicated models for standard US can diameters:
12oz Standard
12oz Slim
16oz Tall Boy
24oz & 25oz Jumbo
Prep the Can: Remove the lid of your soda can with a can opener. Then poke four drainage holes around the base of your can, roughly 1cm from the bottom.
Insert: Slide the can into the printed sleeve.
Align: Ensure your punched holes align with the drainage cutouts at the base of the sleeve.
Grow: Fill with a high-quality potting mix and start your challenge!
