Description
So, I saw CaseStudio in Makerworld. Thought it was really cool, and I wanted to customize my phone case. BUT, it was a suscription. Absolutely not. So I wanted to make the same on my own.
I started looking for designs of cases and there are 3 different designs. I downloaded all three.
The first one was a TPU one. TPU doesnt have the best surface finish. And it was really bulky. My aliexpress case was much sleeker.
The second one was basically the same but with two slits, so you can print it in PLA. The quality is much higher now, but is was still really bulky and the fit was quite bad. I broke 3 of them trying to put the phone in, so it was a no go if I wanted to easily swap them.
The third one was the one I remixed. I didn't like it at first, but when I printed it, the fit was perfect, and it was as sleek as my aliexpress case. It's nicer than it looks in the photos. It was the one. But it had a few things I could improve.
In the original, the three cutouts for the buttons and the usb go all the way to the base, giving it an unfinished vibe. So I changed it to a more organic flow that goes down just enough so the buttons are comfortable to press.
I copied CaseStudio and divided the case in three zones: the frame, the camera ring (in the version I uploaded the camera ring is a bit thicker than in the image) and the backplate. First I printed them separatelty, to make them interchangeable, like casestudio. But After the frist print I saw that that design, though it looked great, made the frame loose. It was not optimal.
So I decided to just use modifiers in the slicer. That way, the whole case prints in one go, and that made it easier and superior.
Download the file
If you want the casestudio styled one, separate the case into objects
Import the svg with the design (I already uploaded one with four designs). Place them in the bed however you want them to be in the case
Assemble the svg and the backplate
Change the svg to modifier
And select the colours for every part
If you want the one with just the logo it's the same, download the case
Don't separate it. Import the logo (I uploaded it)
Place it where you want
Assemble
Change it to modifier
Change the color and print
I made this in an Elegoo CC, changing the filament. If you have and MMU it would be easier, I guess. I've also made a carbon fiber one, or one with my logo. Your creativty is the limit.
It also works for the OnePlus 9R.
