T-Rex Dinosaur from Dinos and Comics

I love the Dinos and Comics strip on Instagram.

And I wanted to print some T-Rexes as gifts. I did find an STL on Cults3D - but it was flawed. So I created my own.

Here's my process:

• Get a PNG from Google Image Search.
• Vectorize with InkScape, clean up the outline and save as SVG.
• Simplify this outline to just the external contour in Inkscape, save as a second SVG.
   
• Import external contour SVG in Blender (first-time use for me :) and extrude.
• Import outline SVG and carefully place on top of first extrusion, then also extrude.
• Export to STL.
   
• Slice with two external perimeters, two bottoms and three tops, 20% infill.
• Print with DasFilament Tom3D's Infintiy Blue PLA on my Ender 3.
• Colorize using ink markers.
