Class: Barbarian (Path of the Giant) – Level 5
Background: The Survivor (Custom/Outlander)
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Tone: Heroic / Brutal
1. The Lore: The Living Forge
Origin: The Day the Mountain Spoke Valdos was once the Captain of the Guard at Red Peak, a mining settlement built into a dormant volcano. When the mountain unexpectedly woke, the pyroclastic flow consumed everything. Valdos didn't run; he held the great stone gates shut to buy time for the civilians to flee. The heat was absolute. It melted the ceremonial black-iron armor he wore, fusing the metal plates and gold filigree directly into his flesh. He didn't die; the latent elemental heritage in his blood ignited. He emerged days later, a walking amalgam of man, metal, and magma.
Physical Appearance (The Fused Armor)
The Skin: Valdos does not "wear" the scale mail seen in the image; it is his skin. The dark scales are scar tissue made of organic steel. When he is healed, wounds don't bleed—they cool and harden like slag.
The Mantle: The bright orange "fur" on his shoulders is actually fibrous volcanic glass wool, venting the intense heat from his core.
The Weapon: He drags Core-Splitter, a massive axe forged from the heart of the mountain, glowing with the same heat that keeps him alive.
Personality
Ideal: "I survived the fire so others wouldn't have to burn."
Flaw: "The metal in my skin numbs me to pain, but also to gentle touches. I sometimes forget my own strength."
Bond: "I seek the Primordial Giant who originally forged Red Peak, to understand what I have become."

Giant’s Power: You learn the Druidcraft cantrip (manifests as ash and sparks).
Giant’s Havoc (While Raging):
Size: You grow to Large size (10x10 ft space).
Reach: Your melee reach increases by +5 ft.
Thrown Weapon: You can throw your Greataxe, and it instantly returns to your hand (uses Rage damage bonus).
2. Feat: Slasher (Level 4)
Stat Bump: +1 STR.
Slow Down: Once per turn, when you hit with your axe, reduce the target's speed by 10 ft.
Critical Hit: The target has Disadvantage on all attacks.
3. Fire Genasi Legacy
Darkvision: 60ft.
Fire Resistance: You take half damage from fire.
Spells (CON-based): Produce Flame (Cantrip), Burning Hands (1st Level, 1/day).
3. Combat Tactics (The "Volcanic Wall")
Valdos plays as a Battlefield Controller and Damage Sponge.
Turn 1: The Eruption.
Bonus Action: Rage. You grow Large. The magma cracks on your skin flare white-hot.
Action: Move 40ft toward the biggest threat. Use Reckless Attack.
The Lockdown (Slasher + Reach).
With your 10ft reach (Large size), you can hit enemies before they reach you.
The Slasher feat reduces their speed. If they try to move away, your reach ensures you get an Opportunity Attack. You are a sticky tank.
Ranged Brutality.
If an enemy flies or runs, Throw the Axe.
Thanks to Giant's Havoc, you apply your Rage damage to the throw, and the axe snaps back to your hand like a boomerang of doom.
4. Roleplay Cues & Hooks
Roleplay Tips
Voice: Deep, grinding, like tectonic plates shifting.
Sound: When you move, you don't clank like armor; you creak like cooling metal.
Resting: You don't take off your armor to sleep. You just sit near the fire, letting the heat wash over your metal skin.
Inventory: "Core-Splitter"
Greataxe. A heavy, gold-filigreed axe head that glows orange-hot.
Property: When Valdos rages, the axe grows with him, becoming a siege weapon capable of smashing castle gates.
Adventure Hook: The Harvesters
A group of artificers or duergar realizes that Valdos's skin is made of "Living Adamantine" or a rare volcanic alloy. They are hunting him not to kill him, but to "harvest" the plates from his body. Valdos must stay one step ahead of these poachers.
