Description
A few days ago, I wanted to print an Apple Watch Charging Dock and I found this beautiful model by @tom_studio. Unfortunately, after printing it, I found out that my specific charger cable did not fit into the printed dock. The reason for that was not the model itself, but the fact that there are a lot of charger cables that differ only in minimal details. Apple itself has released more than one version of their genuine Watch Charger Cables that differ minimally either in the diameter of the puck or the diameter of the cable.
Since I have more than one charger cable and I would like to train my FreeCAD skills, I created my own, full parametric implementation of the original design. The included STL-Export is suitable for the original genuine Apple Watch Magnetic Fast Charger to USB-C Cable.
If you have a different charger cable, you should carefully measure at least the diameter of the puck and the diameter of the cable, load the model in FreeCAD and change the corresponding properties puck_diameter and cable_diameter. After that you can export your customised STL version of the model.
There are a lot or more properties that can be customised. Feel free to explore the model, maybe learn something and please: send me your thoughts if you think that I could have done things in a better way...
Have fun and enjoy your Apple Watch Charging Stand, or at least use it to learn something useful about FreeCAD.
