Mr. Steepy

Inspired by the iconic mechanical "clink" of a Zippo lighter, I designed Mr. Steepy to bring some mechanical "gear" vibes to your morning brew. If you want a silent, characterless container, keep looking. If you want a magnetic, snapping, bird-headed vault that makes a satisfying thwack every time you prep a shot, you’re in the right place.

Optimized Engineering

• Ultra-Lightweight: The XL version uses only ~55g of filament. Efficient, fast, and light enough for a travel bag. The standard filter version is ~72g due to thicker structural walls.

• Print-in-Place Hinge: No screws, no pins, no assembly required for the hinge. Just print and snap.

• Support-Free: Designed with zero supports required.

• Gyroid-Optimized: Use 20% Gyroid infill to ensure uniform strength and that satisfying, dampened acoustic "thwack."

Features

• Modular "Dual-Core" System: The outer container remains the same, but includes two interchangeable middle inserts for XL or Standard filters.

• Multi-Magnet Support: The provided .3mf uses 4x (6x3mm) Neodymium magnets.

• Circular Economy Design: Magnet pockets are exposed for a press-fit using a hex-hole design. Extract the magnets using the side of a hex key when you're done with the print.

• Fuzzy Grip: Mr. Steepy is coated in a tactical texture to keep things grippy. This is baked into the CAD—no need to enable "Fuzzy Skin" in your slicer!

Technical Specs

• Hardware: 4x Neodymium Magnets (6x3mm).

• Filament: 3+ walls recommended.

• Infill: 20% Gyroid.

• Material: PLA (Successfully tested with Polymaker Silk, Polysonic, and Starlight Meteor).

• Supports: None.

Assembly Instructions

1. Print & Choose Your Core: Pick the XL or Standard filter insert.

2. Polarity Check: Ensure your magnets attract before inserting or gluing. You want a "Snap," not a "Levitation."

3. Load & Pluck: Snap in your magnets and drop your filters into the appropriate insert.

4. Rotate & Lock: Rotate the insert into the shell to lock it into place. To disassemble, do not hold the second cup; hold the hinge with your finger and rotate the inner holder in a clockwise motion to unlock.

5. Enjoy: Play with Mr. Steepy while you wait 2 minutes for your AeroPress to brew.
