Description

The community has created some incredible, creative solutions for the Snapmaker U1 enclosure. However, most are quite bulky and require significant time and material.

Born out of a need to finish a project with a nearly empty roll of PETG, this enclosure is optimized for speed and efficiency without sacrifices (as long as you do not mind an open back). It uses 2–3x less filament than other designs and prints in a single afternoon.

This model is inspired by the Top Cover by Beaver Works.

Features

  • Fast: Under 6 hours total print time.

  • Lightweight: Uses less than 250g of filament.

  • Simple: Single-plate print with zero supports required.

  • IKEA SAMLA Compatible: Designed specifically for the 45L SAMLA bin system.

Recommended Print Settings

To get the best result, I recommend the following:

  • Material: The use of PETG is recommended due to its thermal resistance and superior bed adhesion.

  • Adhesion: I suggest using "mouse ears" (small brim disks) at the corners. This helps prevent warping on the thin base.

  • Assembly: Use a small amount of glue to securely bond the parts together once printed.

Feedback & Makes

I’m always looking to improve designs! If you run into any issues or have ideas for updates, please reach out. I would love to see your finished builds—please upload your makes and share your feedback!
