Description
I recently picked up an E-M5 with a damaged eyecup and found that the replacements were surprisingly expensive. I printed the few eyecups I could find online but I wasn't satisfied with their fit. So, rather than playing with my new camera, I spent a few days measuring, prototyping, and testing to design a new eyecup from the ground up.
This eyecup fits perfectly around the viewfinder and matches the shape of the body, including the slope inwards. This slope makes the hood of the eyecup thinner near the edge, making it more flexible and comfortable against your face. It's low profile, only extending 3mm from the viewfinder, similar to the original eyecup.
This must be printed in TPU, as it fits by stretching over the viewfinder and locking behind the tabs. I printed it at 100% infill at 0.1mm layer height, and aligned the seams along the bottom to keep the more visible sides cleaner looking.
This is a replacement for the EP-10 eyecup, which only fits the Mark I versions of the E-M5 and E-M10.
I've attached the Fusion file, feel free to remix it and share your own eyecup designs!
I've also attached the "negative" of the viewfinder, which can be used to adapt other eyecup designs to the E-M5 and E-M10 by importing it as a negative volume and "cutting out" the viewfinder. It is already scaled to 101% to allow about 0.1mm of wiggle room around the viewfinder.
