Description
π Narrative Background
Oolo was not born in a monastery of stone and silence, but in a swamp teeming with life, decay, and rebirth. While other Tortles embarked on great adventures to see the world before their time was up, Oolo found a fascinating patch of moss on his own shell and decided to stay still to see how it grew. He sat so still, for so long, that the forest accepted him as part of the landscape. Birds nested in his shoulder pads; rare orchids took root in the cracks of his shell.
He learned that healing and harm are just two sides of the same leaf, fertilizer feeds the flower, the flower feeds the bee.
He became a Way of Mercy Monk, using his ki to mend wounds, and a Circle of Spores Druid, understanding that spores and fungi are the forestβs way of recycling life.
Oolo is not on a quest for gold or glory. He is on a Pilgrimage of Pollination. The rare Moon-Bloom growing on his upper shell only releases seeds once every 50 years, and it requires specific soil found in distant lands to propagate. He travels to spread life, offer tea to weary travelers, and perhaps find the perfect sunny rock for a nap.
The Tea Master: Oolo always carries a ceramic tea set. He believes every conflict can be de-escalated with a hot cup of Ginseng and Honey.
Literal Green Thumb: When he uses his monk abilities, it looks like vines bursting from his fists or pollen clouds confusing enemies.
Slow & Steady: He speaks slowly, moves with purpose, and refers to his party members as "Saplings" or "Sprouts."
β Character Sheet (Technical Build)
Race: Tortle (Mordenkainen Presents: Monsters of the Multiverse) Class Split: Monk (Way of Mercy) 4 / Druid (Circle of Spores) 2 Level: 6 (Scalable) Background: Hermit (or customized "Gardener") Alignment: Neutral Good
STR: 14 (+2) Strong enough to lift logs.
DEX: 10 (0) He relies on his shell, not dodging.
CON: 14 (+2) Hearty and healthy.
INT: 10 (0)
WIS: 18 (+4) Insightful and magically potent (Including Racial +2).
CHA: 8 (-1) A bit socially awkward/slow.
Armor Class (AC): 19 (17 Natural Armor + 2 Shield using Druid training, if one hand is free, otherwise 17). Note: Monks usually don't use shields, but since your AC is fixed by Tortle, you technically CAN use a wooden shield if you don't care about "Martial Arts" bonus unarmed strike, but for this build, we stick to AC 17 to keep the punch/kick flow.
Hit Points: Approx. 45-50 (depending on rolls).
Speed: 30ft.
1. Natural Armor (Tortle): You don't need Dexterity. Your shell provides a base AC of 17. You are a tank without wearing metal.
2. Symbiotic Entity (Druid - Spores):
Flavor: Instead of dark necromancy, imagine this as activating the thorny vines and defensive pollen on your shell.
Mechanic: You gain 8 Temporary HP. While active, your melee attacks deal an extra 1d6 Necrotic damage.
3. Hands of Healing / Hands of Harm (Monk - Mercy):
Flavor: You touch an ally, and moss patches their wounds. You punch an enemy, and toxic spores cloud their lungs.
Mechanic: Spend 1 Ki point to heal (Martial Arts die + WIS) or deal extra necrotic damage.
4. Halo of Spores (Druid):
Flavor: A cloud of glittery, sneezing pollen surrounds you.
Mechanic: Reaction to deal 1d4 Necrotic damage to anyone starting their turn near you.
The Setup: Before a fight (or round 1), activate Symbiotic Entity. You bulk up with temp HP and your fists now glow with green energy.
The Beatdown: Use your Action to attack with a Quarterstaff (re-flavored as a gardening hoe or walking stick) or Unarmed Strikes.
Damage: 1d6 (Staff) + 2 (Str) + 1d6 (Symbiotic Necrotic).
The Mercy: Use Flurry of Blows. If an ally is hurt, replace one punch with a Hand of Healing. If an enemy is tough, use Hand of Harm to poison them with nature's wrath.
Cantrips: Shillelagh (Essential! Lets you use WIS for attacks instead of STR), Druidcraft (Make flowers bloom instantly).
Level 1 Spells: Goodberry (Flavor as growing magical berries on your shell), Entangle (Vines erupting from the floor), Absorb Elements.
π Equipment & Loot
Weapon: A gnarled Quarterstaff that is actually a living root.
Item of Importance: A watering can that never runs empty (Common Magic Item: Pot of Awakening variant).
Clothes: Simple linen robes, torn in places where his shell spikes have grown through. Handwraps made of natural hemp.

π² DM Hooks (How to introduce him)
The Statue: The party sees a statue of a Tortle in a garden. Suddenly, the "statue" sneezes. It was just Oolo meditating for 4 days.
The Medicine Man: A local village is sick. Oolo is mixing a giant pot of soup in the town square, using herbs he pulls directly off his own back.
The Escort: Oolo needs help crossing a "fast" river (he hates rushing) to plant a seed on the other side.
