Description
This device is a modular system designed to produce accurate, perfectly 90° cuts. It consists of two main components: a support body with integrated magnets and a replaceable adapter.
The main body houses permanent magnets that guide and stabilize the blade during cutting. The adapter, on the other hand, is configurable: it features a hole that can be modified directly in the slicer by adding a negative geometry with the desired shape and dimensions. This makes it possible to create custom-fit slots for different workpieces without redesigning the entire tool.
Once the desired configuration has been defined and printed, the two parts are assembled and secured together, for example using a clamp. The workpiece is inserted into the adapter’s opening, which keeps it firmly positioned and properly centered.
It is recommended to use a saw with a wide, flat blade surface to ensure strong adhesion to the magnets embedded in the support. The magnetic force keeps the blade perfectly perpendicular to the workpiece, preventing accidental tilting. This allows for straight, clean, and precise cuts with a simple linear motion, without the need to constantly check the cutting angle.
The key advantage of this system is its modularity: the adapter can be replaced at any time to accommodate new geometries, avoiding the need to reprint the main magnetic support. This reduces time, material usage, and costs, making the tool versatile and easy to customize.
In the configuration described, 19×6 mm magnets with a thickness of 1.8 mm were used. However, the design remains fully customizable: a clean STEP file is provided, allowing users to adapt the model to different magnet sizes and adjust magnetic strength and configuration without redesigning the tool from scratch.
