Description
Greetings from Canada!
This is a print in place fidget device or a nice little teaching tool - it is a herringbone double planetary gearset. Because of the herringbone teeth, this device holds itself together - no assembly required.
I printed using the following settings -
.4mm nozzle
.2mm layer height
15% infill/rectilinear infill, 2 walls
PETG - basically the default settings for PETG
Check the preview to ensure that the gears are not inappropriately joined. If they are, you may need to change the "slice gap closing radius" to a smaller value (although my default 0.049mm value worked fine). If the gears are stuck, you may need to apply a little pressure to get the gears moving (they will become progressively smoother). If you can see that the teeth have inappropriately bonded on the top or bottom layers, lightly sand the top and bottom and it will free them up (although I didn't need to so this).
finally, enjoy!
