Description
I have been using Slanman Custom's original clip design for over two years now, and found myself wanting there to be some modifications. The original clip does fit Bambu Lab reusable filament spools reasonably well, but since it was primarily designed for a different manufacturer's spool, there are a few areas that could be improved to focus the design around Bambu's spool. These are the issues I had with the original, and which I addressed with this remix. The original clip is:
somewhat fragile, and if using PLA, it is easy to bend and break them when removing them;
somewhat tricky to install on the spool, because the mouth has 90 degree corners at the opening;
somewhat hard to remove, because the lip is slightly sharp;
somewhat loose, because the slot is a little wide; and
somewhat difficult to insert the filament, because the receiving mouth is a little small.
See the attached diagrams to see the specific areas that I modified. My initial response to these remixed clips is favorable. It will be interesting if, two years from now (or sooner), I find myself wanting to tweak them a bit more.
I printed these Bambu PLA Silk+ Gold filament, 0.4mm nozzle, 0.20mm layer height, 100% infill, 3 walls/top/bottom, with with outer wall speed reduced to 50 mm/s (to achieve the shiny finish).
