Description
The Fid Tool is a square flat tool intended to assist the operator in accurately marking the position to place a bar code, QR code sticker or similar on the robotics floor. These are known as fiducials at sites where robots use a grid of such markings to navigate. These fiducials are often damaged and routinely replaced. Old markings are often worn and need refreshing.
After long term use, I have a slight preference for black fid tools, as they seem to make it easier to see faint old markings on the floor. I have printed this tool in PLA, PETG and TPU. I have a slight preference for TPU, as it is less likely to be damaged when carried in a pocket, but any thermoplastic will work.
Please read the accompanying PDF file before first use. It contains important information to ensure accuracy, including how to use the tool with lasers.
Depending on your printer and the material, you may need to employ mouse ears at the corners to avoid warping. I would suggest printing this at 0.16mm layer height.
Feedback is greatly appreciated.
