Description
As long as you could possibly need, even on a standard print bed!
Includes various lengths from 12 cm up to 7 meters. Currently available in two widths, 8 mm and 12 mm, with more coming soon. Two head types, quick release, or standard with separate release tool. Plus a keeper for the loose end to allow reuse instead of cutting it short.
For best results print the head with a hard plastic (tested best with PETG), and the zip with TPU. In a pinch the zip can be printed in a hard plastic and in testing does function, however is obviously less flexible. The head printed in TPU is not recommended, and will have reduced hold strength, and at the same time be hard to release.
Best to use the included 3mf projects for slicing, all sizes and options are included, just enable the parts and select the print bed you want. The zip has an extra support post on the end that needs to be snipped off after printing, this is to add stability during printing. Some parts are quite small, make sure your filament is dry and your print bed is clean.
If slicing from scratch you must set all the extrusion widths to 0.36 mm in the advanced print settings (even on a 0.4 mm nozzle), and use a single perimeter. This allows the slicer to make better points on the zip notches and the head teeth, without which the zip tie will not hold under load. The design is for 0.2 mm layer height only, and does not require supports.
The quick release head works best with the 8 mm wide zip, and in general I recommend the standard head and release tool for most applications.
