Description
A parametric honeycomb cable organizer designed to fit IKEA MICKE drawers.
The hexagonal compartments are ideal for organizing USB cables, chargers, adapters, earbuds, dongles, SD cards, and other small electronics, keeping everything visible and easy to access.
The MICKE drawer width is 240 mm, but the model is designed at 235 mm. In practice, PLA prints tend to come out slightly oversized, which results in a nice snug fit inside the drawer. If the model were exactly 240 mm wide, it would likely not fit after printing.
Fit may vary slightly depending on printer calibration and filament type.
Because the organizer is 235 mm wide, it exceeds the build area of many 3D printers (for example the Creality K1). To make printing easier, the model is available in two versions.
Included Files
Full-size version
Prints as a single piece for printers with a build area large enough for 235 mm.
Split version
Divided into two parts so it can fit printers with smaller build volumes.
The halves fit tightly together, so gluing is optional.
When placed inside the drawer, the snug fit usually keeps everything aligned without glue.
Both versions also include the OpenSCAD source files, allowing you to easily customize the design.
Parametric Design
The included OpenSCAD file allows you to adjust the organizer for different drawers or storage needs.
Main adjustable parameters include:
tray width
tray height
number of rows
hexagon size
wall thickness
This makes it easy to adapt the organizer to other drawers, desks, or storage setups.
Filament
For the closest match to the IKEA MICKE white color, eSun PLA Milky White works very well and blends nicely with the drawer interior.
Printing
No supports required
PLA, PETG, or similar materials work well
Use the split version for printers with a build plate smaller than 235 mm
The parts are very close to the build plate limits on some printers like K1. Disable the skirt in your slicer, otherwise it may push the print outside the printable area.
