Description
I was looking to use some common spikes as pegs for tripod feet I had made for my EMT tripods. The 0.375" diameter spikes at Lowes (a local building supply chain) come in 12", 10" and 8" lengths for about a buck each. Hammering them in is no problem, but I figured I needed something to both make retreival easier and to allow for pressing them in by hand.
The spike slots into the fitted recess on the side of the model and is secured by use of a zip tie. I have used both 1/8" (3.17mm) and 3/16" (4.75mm) zip ties. The openings should accommodate up to 5mm. The close fit of the recess allows the spike to be hammered in or pressed in by hand. It can be used for for pulling up the spike by hand or maybe with a rope attachment and the head can also be used for securing a rope when doing a tie down.
These spikes can be used to stake a tarp down or as tent pegs or stakes.
I printed in ASA for UV and temperature resistance. Fusion 360 source and .STEP files are included as well as the .STL
