Description
This was a design for our Zanussi ZDT 6252 dishwasher, the door latch/catch part number 4055283925, but the same part is used in many other compatible models, even from other brands. I've seen Electrolux and AEG just to mention two, Hotpoint too I'm sure.
On the door latch, after 25 years, the two retaining clips broke off so the mechanism for the door latch swung right around and came off it's mounts.
To fit this model, you simply clean off the last of the broke retaining clips (horizontal pieces) and then glue this model on. It's has a maximum surface coverage so user plenty of strong glue for years of use. As you slide the new retainer clip (model) on, watch the guide groves and slide on to the very end. Again, use the best liquid glue you have.
This model is my "quick fix" variant. Once I get the full latch mechanism body designed, I'll upload that too.
UPDATE: I've added 2 extra variants.
1) Original Model - For the older latch that has 2 notches on each of the clip towers where you will glue the model to the latch body
2) Modern Era Model - This is an adjusted model for the new profile of the clip towers, where it's not 2 notches but 1 single step on the sides where you glue
3) Modern Era Preventative Model - This might be over kill but you could print this and glue it to the newer modern era latch and you should never see the clips failing, ever. It will be the strongest part of the dishwasher.
So, as a result, PLEASE NOTE: "Zanussi ZDT 6252 Door Latch Modern Era (Preventative).stl" is for a latch that not yet failed. It's a preventative model that will ensure that the clips that are not yet broken on your dishwasher will last forever. The other 2 models are for clips that have failed/broken-off.
Our dishwasher was produced on 25 Oct 2002, daily use, so that makes it over 23 years old. Good going heh?!?
