Description
1x ESP32-C3 SuperMini
1x 8x8 WS2812B LED Matrix (64 LEDs)
Some wires
Wiring diagram:
In the provided wiring diagram, the matrix is powered directly from the ESP32-C3 5V pin via USB. This is a quick prototype setup. Because I keep the brightness low in the software (20-40%), it runs safely and looks great. However, if you plan to run the LEDs at high brightness or full white, the 64 LEDs will draw too much current and can burn the traces on the ESP board. To fix this for full brightness, use an external 5V power supply wired directly to the matrix and add a ~330Ω resistor on the data line.
The easiest way to run this is using WLED. It requires zero coding and lets you control the LEDs directly from your phone or computer via Wi-Fi. If you are new to it, check out this quick tutorial:
Also made a case for ESP, but didn't have time to print it yet.
