Description

"How can I get this rope up there??"
You don't need this tool... until you do!

Simple to print, and should fit on any broom handle or extendable pole with a tapered end.
You can optionally add screws to prevent it falling off the end.

Print Settings

  • 0.2mm layer height or variable height - so that the inner surface doesn't need support.

  • 3-5 perimeters for strength - you don't want it to break if it bumps into something.

  • Any rigid material

  • I didn't need supports for the shuttle, but you may find your printer or material needs a different orientation.

After printing, clean up any sagging bridges with a blade, test fit the pieces together to make sure they go together and back apart easily.

Instructions for Use

See the video, or

  1. Tie a string or cord loosely to the bent end of the shuttle.
If you want to run a thick rope, put a narrow cord over first and use it to pull the rope in turn.

  2. Hold the shuttle into the hook with some gentle tension on the cord.

  3. Push the hook through the branch so that the shuttle opens, then closes behind it.

  4. Pull the hook back, it should grab the shuttle from the other side - so that the cord is now running over the branch.

  5. Once you have the shuttle back to you remove the cord, and complete your task.

  6. Be glad you didn't need to climb a ladder today!

Versions

  • The original version (pictured) can fit branches up to about 45mm (1¾") diameter.

  • The larger version can fit branches up to about 60mm (2⅜") diameter, while still fitting on a Prusa Mini bed.
