Description
Your fully variable Master Spool comes here. (Please read all before printing!)
This spool's USP :
If you choose a new refill manufacturer that uses a different diameter for its refills, you’ll only need to print 6 new spacers. The larger parts will remain the same!
New in V2: Added an "inspool filament groove" instead of filament clips and a hole in the sticker surface to accomodate a 20x2 mm magnet to attach magnetic stickers. Of course you still can use adhesive stickers - just as you prefer.
If you use a filament dryer it is mandatory to print the spool at least in PETG! There is a dedicated PETG version with a clearance on the thread to prevent it from getting stuck.
This spool is built of 3 different files, ending up with a total of 8 parts:
Standard version (PLA - not for filament dryer use!):
Spool half with external thread (Spool w external thread.stl) | print 1x |
|---|---|
Spool half with internal thread (Spool w internal thread.stl) | print 1x |
Spacer (Spacer.stl) | print 6x |
Important:
On your first attempt don't use brute force to screw the spools together! To make things easy add a bit of vaseline to the thread and turn it back and forth bit by bit. Don't overdo until you get stuck, it'll take you only one minute of patience for success ;-) !
PETG version for filament dryer use:
Spool half with external thread (Spool w external thread.stl) | print 1x |
|---|---|
Spool half with internal thread (Spool w internal thread w clearance.stl) | print 1x |
Spacer (Spacer.stl) | print 6x |
The parts will provide you with a Master Spool for a refill with an inner diameter of 82 mm and a width of 60 mm. If you need a different diameter or width you can either reach out to me and I create the spacer on request or you can create them on your own. If you are able to create them yourself, follow the geomety shown in the PDF. You just need to change the radius R41 to the size you require. The length of the spacers for this core width is 59.9 mm.
I've added Step files and the original Freecad file for remixing.
If you like this design, please post your print with a picture.
Anybody willing to support with a small donation is more than welcome ;-)
