Description
Do you hear mice in your ceiling or attic? Did they just chew through your internet cable preventing you from consuming dank memes online? Do you want to make sure it NEVER happens again? SAY GOODNIGHT B*TCH!
The GNB is a simple in-ceiling holder for common Victor mouse traps that drops a signal flag when the trap is sprung. Fast to set and empty. Reusable and humane. Tested and tweaked over 6 months, total successful trap count of 35. Easy to print, assemble and install!
Print Instructions:
- Print the GNB as-is with supports, use 3-4 perimeter walls for best strength. PLA+ recommended.
- Print the signal flag at around 97% scale to ensure space for it to spin freely. Use 3-4 perimeter walls and 50% infill. A bright, contrasting color is recommended to easily see the signal. PLA+ recommended.
Ceiling cut-out:
- To prepare the ceiling cutout, use the bottom of the GNB to trace its outline on the ceiling with a pencil. This is where you'll cut. I recommend using a stud finder to ensure your cutting area isn't right under a joist or beam. I installed this in a closet so it is out of sight.
- Using a drywall knife, oscillating tool, or other cutting tool, carefully cut the traced outline to create the rectangular hole that the trap will go in.
Assembly:
- Use a standard Victor Mousetrap (click here for link) (the ones I used came from the Lititz PA factory).
- Slide the mousetrap into the "Goodnight B*tch" side first, and press down on the other side until the trap clicks into place. You may need to flex the bracket or the trap - its a snug fit.
- Drop the signal flag into the hole.
Setting the Trap:
- Use the favorite snack of your local mice as bait. In my case, its peanut butter. Place peanut butter on the bait holder and ensure that you get it inside the tube as well.
- Arm the trap normally.
- After the trap is armed, rest the signal flag on the raised edge so it points towards the trap. See the GIF above.
- I recommend testing the trap in a safe manner either by thumb-release or using a poker. I've noticed in testing that the spring bar on some Victor traps can be slightly bent, and rarely its bent enough that it won't hit the signal flag. To fix this, simply bend the bar straight.
Install into ceiling:
- When the GNB is ready to deploy, insert the side with the 2 tabs into the ceiling first, then push the tabs on the other side in until you can slide the trap into the ceiling. This may take a couple attempts if you have a really sensitive trap as it might spring while trying to get it in the ceiling.
GOT ONE!!!
- When you see the signal flag is dropped, remove the GNB from the ceiling and dispose of the remains. If the Victory trap is still intact and clean, you can re-use it. ALWAYS WASH YOUR HANDS AFTER HANDLING THE TRAP.
Please let me know how I can improve this model! I have mice everywhere in my home so I'll always be looking to make this better and easier.
Thank you, good luck, and GOODNIGHT!
