Description

I enjoy printing chip clips and I'm always on the lookout for good ones. This one is very fun and relies on compliant mechanisms to work. I noticed that the original ABS version wasn't quite strong enough for thicker items to clamp on when printed in PETG. I re-enforced the pivot to be stronger to prevent it from popping out of the socket.

I also wished I could print in PLA. Since PLA is bad under stress (creep), I had an idea to just print the spring in PETG and that means you could print the body in PLA! I tried it out and it works great.

The spring should never be printed in PLA. Ideally you want to print in PETG.

If you just want the all in one, use PETG.

Tension will hold the spring in place firmly but I used Super glue to add the PETG spring to the PLA body. Works great.

Print with 2 perimeters.

Rafts:

No

Supports:

No

Resolution:

Filament:

MISC PETG

Notes:

2 perimeters

If you are printing the all in one model, use PETG only. If you print the spring separately print the spring in PETG and the body whatever you want.

Glue the spring in place with some superglue. (not 100% necessary as tension will hold it in place but it could get dislodged in a junk drawer)

Securing the spring on separately printed model

Glue PETG spring into place if you printed them separately.
