Description
Lost an LED? Broken a button? I certainly did! Protect those precious diodes and buttons with this case for your badge.
Enclosed front and back to prevent damage.
All hexpansion ports fully accessible. Supports MOST hexpansion modules.
Much easier to press and completely protected primary buttons.
Interchangeable button covers. Create your own, add contrasting colours without the need for multi-material. Prints in optimal orientation for strength and flexibility. Easily replace if broken. Leave them off completely if you've got little fingers and you like a challenge.
Built in diffuser (for multi-material) or holes (for single-material) to allow the front LEDs to shine through.
Screen support to prevent damage.
Back cover completely optional.
MORE HEXAGONS, sure they're just decorative but more hexagons is just more better, no?
3x 6mm M3 screws for front cover. I can't remember if these are the ones that come with the badge in the first place. 5mm should also work.
3x 4mm M3 screws for back cover. Flat head ideal.
Everything is 100% printable without supports.
Tests printed on Bambu Lab P1S with 0.4mm nozzle.
Sliced using 0.16mm Optimal settings
Arachne wall generator
Prints great in PLA. PETG should also work well though not tested.
Button inserts work well in PLA despite needing to flex. They also work well in PETG and this is probably the better material for the job.
Diffuser hexagons work well with a top surface pattern set to concentric. I tried also setting the bottom pattern to concentric but the diffusers all popped out. They seem much better bonded with the bottom surface pattern left at monotonic.
Print a case top, screen support and a set of button inserts.
Slide the button inserts into the slots on each corner, with the narrow end first (downwards).
Slide the screen support under the screen with the largest face down towards the PCB (see photo), until the small face lines up with the display.
Align the case, making sure that the cutout in the light baffes is aligned with the pins on the display and the holes are aligned through the PCB and into the standoffs below.
Use the 6mm M3 screws to attach the case to the badge.
Print a case bottom
Align the usb ports to the cutouts on the case. The reboop buttons should also be aligned with their cutout.
Attach to the bottom using the 4mm M3 screws.
