Description
Let’s face it: The world didn't need another cable winder. There are already enough designs out there to wrap the equator twice. But you’re here, I’m here, and your desk currently looks like a spaghetti monster had a mid-life crisis.
This specific winder is designed for the connoisseur of "I'll definitely need this micro-USB cable from 2012 someday." It’s sleek, it’s -not really- clicky, and it’s satisfying enough to distract you from the fact that you should probably be doing actual work.
Let’s be real: Is there a groundbreaking technical reason to choose this over the 5,000 other winders? Probably not. But here’s the kicker: This one is fully parametric. If my default dimensions don't fit your specific brand of "extra thicc" cables, you can just jump into the Onshape Model LINK and tweak the measurements on the fly.
It’s perfect for those situations where... well... yours is just a bit longer. (The cable. I’m talking about the cable. Get your mind out of the gutter and back onto the print bed.)
And yeah, it’s not exactly "stackable." I mean, it IS... but more in the way that apples or jigsaw blades are stackable. It’s a pile, not a tower. You’ve been warned.Â
Parts: Split and print as separate parts, the spacing isn't made for pint in place.
Material: PLA/PETG (unless you’re planning to wind cables in a volcano).
Infill: 15-20% is plenty.
Supports: None. We don't do that here.
Layer Height: 0.2mm works great, but go 0.15mm if you want it to feel extra fancy.
Post a make! If you print this, please upload a photo. I need the dopamine hit to justify the 4 hours I spent tweaking the tolerance exactly for my printer on this thing.
And if you find yourself thinking, 'Wow, my life was a hollow void before this cable winder,' don't worry—I know the feeling. Feel free to leave a like to cope with the excitement. Do it - Bacardi Cola - Do it.
